This transmitter board will accept an NTSC video signal and will generate a corresponding RF signal modulated with this information as well as a standard 4.5 MHz sound subcarrier, in the 902 to 928 MHz band. A 910.25 Mhz crystal is supplied with this kit. This frequency range can be received on any standard TV receiver fitted with a suitable RF downconverter capable of tuning the 902-928 MHz Amateur band. The small size (1.75"x2.75") is comparable to many small PC board cameras and is small enough for R/C applications in which a video link is needed, robotics, and amateur TV. Operation is possible from nominal 10 to 14 volt power supplies, with minor adjustments in video drive. Lead acid, nicad, or alkaline power packs may be used. Less than 9 or more than 15 volts is not recommended. Power output will be typically from 0.2 to 0.7 watts over this range. A crystal is supplied for 910.25 MHz.

The Mini 900 can easily be retuned for a 5.5 or 6.0 MHz sound subcarrier used by the PAL system. The video input requirement is standard 1V p-p 75 ohms negative sync. The video amplifier and modulator is DC coupled but a capacitor can be installed in series with the input if AC coupling is desired. Audio inputs from .05V to 1 Volt can be accomodated.

NOTE THAT A VALID AMATEUR LICENSE PERMITTING OPERATION IN THIS BAND IS A REQUIREMENT FOR OPERATION OF THIS DEVICE. In the USA this means a code free license (Technician class) so if you can build this kit you should easily be able to pass the required exam.

OPERATION OF THIS DEVICE ON COMMERCIAL TV FREQUENCIES IS ILLEGAL IN THE USA and for other nations, check local laws. The transmitter is intended for amateur use by legally licensed amateurs and for no other purposes. It has not been submitted for type acceptance and is not suitable for commercial use.

The kit can be easily assembled in two to four evenings, depending on experience. There is a lot of small work so suitable tools should be available. Some experience is assumed, but the average electronic hobbyist will have few if any problems. Familiarity with RF circuitry, and customary UHF construction techniques is assumed.
